Watchmen is the shiz.
I love the complexities of all the characters and the plot. Rorshach is one of the greatest characters I've had the pleasure of reading about in a long time. He's complexly considerate, humorous, and mysterious. I'm only on the second chapter and I feel completely intoxicated by the pictures and writing. I was a huge fan of Persepolis, but this takes graphic novels to a whole other level-- at least for me, which I repeat, isn't saying too much.
But read this. Seriously.
I must say that the intensity of your recommendation suggest to me that I would be a sipplton and twerp if I do not read this novel. Consequently I am adding it to my lovely little reading list for this summer. I hope you enjoy the rest of it!
ReplyDeleteI hope to watch the movie in the near future after hearing so much about it. Don't know if reading the novel would spark my interest because Persepolis is failing at keeping my attention. But who can resist a good comic?

ReplyDeleteAfter being present for that stirring lecture on Watchmen during AP Composition and now with this recommendation, I really might have to see what all the fuss is about.
Mark, no! Apparently the movie is really terrible, and oh my gosh Watchmen is a completely different style/humor/everything than Persepolis. You should really give it a chance.
